The project is about the cooking experience of cooking beginners in busy city life.
And this is my mark 1 prototypes, is it like a cooking tool kit that users can make nearly all kinds of basic, easy to make food by these. There are 9 items inside. actually we usually need more than 9 utensils to cook a meal, but in my project I combined them together which allows the user to buy less product pay less money with more function and save more space in their kitchen.
Like this one: I don't know how to name it because it's a peeler on this side and a juice squeezer on this side. I redesigned the ordinary peeler by bending the blade because most of vegetables are round but not flat. I changed the peeling action as well, you will find we usually use the ordinary peeler like this, if we want the blade to touch the potato because our fingers here would get in our movement. So l changed the way we hold the peeler like this. It would be easier because we would use a different part of muscle this time.
And the knife looks more friendly this time it's round and easier to cut hard foods.
This is a Mezzaluna, not many people have this utensil in their kitchen. I redesigned it and made it suitable for beginners to slice vege or meat. Originally, Mwzzaluna is for chop or mice foods especially herbs and there were only 2 blades. I made 3 blades here, this would help cooking beginners who have problem with slicing in a quick way.
This is the dishcloth, nearly half of my interviewees said they hate dish washing. I tried to figure out a way that can make them associate the dish washing behavior with something they have to do and enjoy to do. Then I thought of shower. Why they love shower but hate to wash the dishes? Maybe because shower smells good, the water is warm and there are bubbles. So I tried to combine bath sponge with dishcloth together. I tried two ways and don't know which one is better, I will need to test them in next phase.
Chopping board, it's easy to lift up because of the round edge. Users can put the minced green onion or garlic in the small plates. Both side were marked with icons, this side is for vege and this side is for meat.
I will use bamboo for mark2 prototype because it's strong, grows fast that is green to use.
This is mainly a long spoon, it is also a slotted spoon if you lean it like this . It can work as a measuring spoon as well. You can see there are some measuring circles inside from a quarter teaspoon to two teaspoons.
Fish slice has a spatula here, I will use silicon for mark2 prototypes.
This is the apron. A lot of people hate to wear apron because they think it's ugly. I thought if I made it transparent you can't judge it anymore. It's just like the emperor's new clothes. There are three pockets, all of them are removeable. This is the pocket to place your phone that users can use the cooking app when they are cooking. The phone won't get dirty, it's under protection. Users can use their earphone as well. If they get a call, just simply remove it from the apron. These two are basically oven gloves. It's made of towel, you can wipe your hands here instead of wiping on your trousers.
I'd like to tell you Sth about the wire frame I made for the app
Filter (The users can choose their recipes by using the filter. Choosing the ingredients and complexity and the prep time ,then there would be some options you can choose from.)
Add to favorite (If you like it, you can add)
Add basket
Recipes
Favorite (see the one already been saved)
Inspiration ( if the user has no preference, use inspiration to mix the meal)
Mycook( they can also create their own recipe or note down their family recipes)
Add ( simply touch the icon)
Timer (based on the previous questionnaires, a lot of users said they had the experience of burn the food or eat not readied food, so think timer is very necessary for a fluent cooking experience. Users can set the alarm by play a background music in their song list or listen to radio or play an online game or even read a cooking magazine , when the time is up, the music would stop and alarm would ring)
Learn ( learn cooking is the principle aim of this app, users can learn some cooking tips, terms, equipments, ingredients that needed in the kitchen.
Tips (get to know some tips like how to chop an onion, or the right way to cocky pasta)
Equipment(users can get the instructions of those utensils of cook0 toolkit)
Shop( some users find they hate cooking because the grocery shopping experience is bad, I think a shopping list in a cooking app may make it easier. Users can add items from the recipe or they can simply add whatever they like)
More( The last one is about setting)
