Here I have got the 3rd version of my proposal. Thanks so much Christine and Everling for the help. This really reminded me of studying for IELTS and when I was studying in Dundee. A lot of techniques had been used for this paper. Now I am better good at academic writing.
This time I am working with "latin" team, I found the difficulty in working with them especially time management. But honestly I learnt a lot during the process. I learnt how to take it easy and how to let it go. Anyways, we are a very happy team- The Green Team.
An item that I find fascinating is the electric tea kettle, I bet all of you have one in your home. 97 percent of households in UK own an electric kettle. Just imagine, if you were to work with a design agency, and they wanted to do it in sustainable way. They'd say,how do I make it technically efficient? Or, How do I make it green materials? How do I make the materials green in the manufacturing? So, what would you do if you were asked to apply your imagination to design a sustainable product?
The real problem is with how people use the product. 65 percent of people admit to over-filling their kettle when they only need one cup of tea. All of this extra water that's being boiled requires energy, and it's been calculated that in one day of extra energy use from boiling kettles is enough to light all of the streetlights in England for a night. So this is not just the water being wasted, also electricity. there's an interesting phenomenon that happens in the U.K. the moment that very popular TV shows end. The minute the ad break comes on, uk has to rush to buy nuclear power from France, because everybody turns their kettles on at the same time. You can see the minimum fill lines, it was between two and five cups of water just to make one cup of tea. this is an example to tell you that you can use your imagination to lighten climate issue. Or in another way, next time when you fill in water in kettle, fill exactly what you need. Government Responsibilities: Inspection of specified factories; Regulating effluents discharged from factories; Regulating factories based on laws and ordinances; Maintaining and constructing additional sewerage lines and sewage treatment systems;Purifying water in waterways; Controlling pollution from new high-tech industries such as the electronic industries… Actions: Monitoring and assessing air quality in the UK; reporting on emissions and concentrations of air pollution annually to the European Commission (EC) and Convention on Long Range Trans-boundary Air Pollution; producing plans to improve air quality… Strategy on air quality: We published the national air quality strategy in 2007 in 2 volumes: volume 1 contains the strategy, and volume 2 provides information about the evidence the strategy was based on. This strategy set out our national objectives for improving air quality, and how we would achieve them… Three considerations in designing control strategy: Environmental,Engineering,Economic Science and research: Uses a programme of air quality science and research to help develop and implement policies to improve air quality. Legislation and regulations: The government has passed important acts aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and addressing climate change. |
